Resin Bound Surfacing

Bespoke Resin Bonded and Resin Bound driveways

Resin surfacing is hard-wearing and durable, offering a personalised & modern look that’ll last for years to come. A resin bonded driveway is modern, bright and colourful, and the look of loose gravel that the surface provides will give your house a new lease on life once installed.

There are many benefits to installing a resin surface, from aesthetics to practicalities, but one thing is for certain; if you are looking to get a resin driveway or surface installed, look no further than Swift Surfacing. We have been installing resin surfaces across London & Kent since 1991, and always provide a professional and friendly service.

We provide surfacing across London as well as other locations including:

    • Bromley
    • Croydon
    • Tunbridge Wells
    • Canterbury
    • Sevenoaks

    What is resin surfacing?

In contrast to tarmac, block paving, or concrete, resin surfaces are an excellent, economical alternative. In many cases it can be laid directly over existing surfaces and is available in a variety of colours. It is created by combining natural aggregates with polyurethane resin.

    What are resin driveways?

Resin surfaces are made from aggregate and resin, making them versatile. This makes resin a perfect surface for driveways. Resin driveways are extremely customisable as they come in a wide range of colours and designs.

Resin driveways, if properly maintained, can last more than 25 years. There are two different types of resin surfacing available, which is something to consider if you are looking at installing a resin driveway.

    Resin Bound vs. Resin Bonded

Resin bound surfacing is self-draining when laid on a porous sub base or an open grade binder. It has tiny gaps in the resin mix, allowing any surface water to filter through – perfect for driveways which are prone to standing water. Resin bound mix is laid and hand-trowelled to create a smooth surface with no loose aggregate stones.

Resin bonded surfacing, in contrast, is non-permeable and must be laid on non-porous asphalt or a concrete base. Aco drains and soakaways may need to be installed to prevent excess water run off. Resin bonded surfaces are made by sprinkling loose aggregate on top of resin, as opposed to being mixed together first, meaning that aggregate may loosen over time.

Why should I get a resin driveway?

Easy to maintain – most reputable companies, such as Swift Surfacing, use UV-stable resin meaning that your driveway isn’t likely to fade over time. They are also easy to clean using a pressure washer or stiff broom.

Customisable – unlike standard concrete driveways, resin comes in a range of colours and can be designed to your specifications, giving you a large input into how the driveway will look when finished.

Affordable – resin driveways can be very reasonably priced, especially when you consider the low maintenance costs.

    Benefits of resin

    • Aesthetically designed to be seamless or include contrasting edges, completely up to you!
    • Resin bound surfacing is porous so surface water can easily drain away
    • Resin is a hard-wearing & durable surface lasting many years
    • SuDs compliant meaning that is is environmentally friendly & there is no need for planning permission

    Other uses of resin surfacing

There are a number of commercial uses for resin bound surfacing, including:
    • Footpaths
    • Swimming pool surrounds
    • Pond surrounds
    • Shopping centres
    • Car parks
